The weekend is almost here, and it’s not too soon to be thinking cocktails. Here’s a recipe for a sweet basil martini from one of Asheville’s most popular restaurants, The Laughing Seed. Makes two drinks.


Two 5-3 ounces of Rain organic Vodka (I recommend five ounces, of course.)

One squeeze of organic lemon juice

One splash of dry vermouth (I like a very light slash.)

A fistful of organic basil, leaves and stems

Organic cherry tomatoes for garnish

Directions: Pour all the ingredients into a martini shaker with ice and shake hard and then strain into a glass.  Mmmm. Magic.
