Last week I was in Paris. That’s Paris, France—not Texas—ya’ll. It was somewhat gray and rainy, but we still had a ball.

Parisians love their wine; they aren’t as crazy about cocktails. (We couldn’t find decent martini in all of Paris.)

Leave it to us Americans to create a cocktail for them anyway. The French Connection is a classic after-dinner drink combining the warmth of cognac with the yummy almond flavor of amaretto. And, this cocktail also makes the perfect nightcap.

The French Connection is simple to make: pour one ounce of amaretto and two ounces of cognac into a rocks glass with ice and garnish with a lemon wheel.
