She writes, “Recently, my family and I visited the bar my nephew manages in Texas. He served us the house specialty, a Horny Devil Martini. It was darned delish.”
Here’s the recipe:
2.5 ounces of tequila
2.5 ounces of simple syrup
1.75 ounces of triple sec
1.75 ounces of lime juice
Pickled jalapeno slices and juice to taste
Place in shaker with ice, shake hard, and pour. Here’s a tip: The drink gets hotter the longer it sits with the jalapeno slices.
If you don’t know how to make a simple syrup, don’t despair. Penny told me how, and it’s easy.
One cup of sugar
One cup of water
Bring sugar and water to boil in a saucepan. Stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Simmer and leave undisturbed for two minutes. Remove from the stove and cool. Cover and chill. It should last two weeks.
