Talk about a great gig! Charlotte Voisey is an award-winning mixologist and cocktail consultant. In the December issue of More magazine, Charlotte presents some of her favorite cocktails. Several caught my eye including the Winter Rickey.
The rickey was created in Washington, D.C. in 1883, and according to Charlotte, “its simple balance of gin, citrus, and soda water make it as drinkable today as it was back then.”
It’s easy to make. Take:
One and half ounces of gin
A half ounce of fresh lime juice
A half ounce of blood-orange juice (store bought is fine)
A half ounce of honey syrup (equal parts of honey and water)
Three ounces of soda water
Build the ingredients over ice in a tall glass, and garnish with an orange wheel. Cheers!
